5Heroes in a Half Shell - DonatelloJul 14, 2012
By T. Wu
I was so excited for these classic TMNT figures! And I must say that these figures are awesome! These guys are the definitive classics Ninja Turtles! Here we got the smart turtle, Donatello. They have so many great features to them:

Detail and Accuracy: The detail on these guys look so much like the 80s cartoon, it's just fun to look at them and remember my childhood and smile. Donatello has his "D" on his belt! They each have their signature weapons. Donatello specifically has his Bo staff, which he can stored in the holder on his back. The Bo looks great with the bandage wrapping throughout the middle of it. Donny probably has the worst of the eyes being painted facing outwards as his eyes make him look a little goofy.

Articulation: These guys have a TON of articulation! With over 30 points of articulation, you can get them into some great poses. Some of the joints can be a little loose though but still hold position pretty well. Just having the individual finger and toe articulation is great! The finger articulation is tight also so it is no problem to hold their weapons firmly. And even though it is a lot of articulation, it does not make the figure look ugly or overly done in the joints. Sometimes some of the joints can pop loose too but they are easy to put back on since most joints are ball joints.

Overall, Donatello is a must have! Get this guy for your turtle collection!!

5My review in brief: "I like it!"Jul 29, 2012
By barbecue17 "I never say goodbye; I say Good Journey!!"
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have a way of popping up every few years with fun new ideas while still maintaining their original charm of being four, fun loving teenagers which are quite proficient in the martial arts. I still remember first discovering the TMNT on the shelf of a toy story my grandmother always took me too and for some reason they captivated me. Maybe it was the numerous weapons they came with, the colorful packaging, or the weird variety of characters in that first wave of action figures? Whatever the case, I'm thrilled the TMNT are still around and making a huge comeback. With IDW publishing an excellent monthly comic and reprinting nice collected versions of the original black and white comics, a new cartoon from Nickelodeon premiering soon, and a movie on the horizon, this seems like the perfect time for Playmates to jump in and play off of the nostalgia of adult fans who first encountered the turtles as children. With the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Classic Collection, Playmates has done much what Mattel has done with Masters of the Universe Classics, Bandai with the Thundercats vintage collection, and Hasbro with the Star Wars vintage collection, the G.I. Joe 25th anniversary line, and certain Transformers releases: Recreate beloved vintage action figures in a larger scale with modern articulation and detail. These turtles are recreations of the original action figures with a smattering of detail from the cartoon series. I think Playmates has been highly successful in their endeavor, but read on to learn more!

Positives:

*I love the look of this figure! The size, the colors, the detail: all of it comes together to make a beautiful blend of style and nostalgia. Most likely, this is the image of Donatello that jumps into your mind. I mentioned it above, but with this collection Playmates has successfully blended the style of the original toys (look at that facial expression) with elements from the cartoons (brown belts and pupils on the eyes). By himself, Donny is great; with his brothers, he is amazing.

*Donatello does have 34 points of articulation, just like the package proclaims. Besides the expected double-jointed knees and elbows, Donatello also has articulated toes and fingers. He can easily hold his included bo staff in a variety of poses.

*Donatello comes with a stand that looks like a manhole cover. It features the TMNT logo and Donatello's name. Stands are always welcome in my book.

Negatives:
*Ok, so this is the big one. Donatello's right pupil looks a little off. This doesn't seem to be a one off problem, either, but seems to effect all the Donatello's in the line. I'm not as bothered with it as some folks are, but it does give Donny a slightly odd look when you view him from head on.

*One handed poses with the bo (like holding it out and swinging it one handed) are harder to achieve due to the articulated figures. They are both a blessing and a curse.

Overall: I am in love with these figures. Donatello's eyes really are the weakest part of this whole line, and even then it is not a major problem nor is it unable to be fixed with a little white and black paint (not that you should ever have to fix your toys). Still, Playmates has possibly made my favorite TMNT figures ever (NECA's comic inspired figures and the TMNT movie figures from 2007 are still personal favorites as well). I can only hope this line extends to include more classic characters from one of the most beloved 80s/90s properties.

4My Son loves itApr 24, 2013
By Ms. Dillard
My son really loves his TMNT classic collection Donatello--It arrived sooner than expected which was great!! The only issue with the action figure was the left foot of the turtle wasn't attached to the leg. I took it straight out of the packaging and the foot was just there. I can put it on, but it will not stay. I give it 4 stars because my son still loves it although his foot will not stay on.

5AmusingApr 21, 2013

I bought it as a decoration for my office and it really looks cool. in addition, D is my favorite tmnt and I keep changing his pose everyday, you can really go creative with the poses since it offers to many degrees of freedom
