Unlike Traditional SpongeBobNov 22, 2012

We have tons of Christmas DVDs but how could we possibly have ever celebrated Christmas without SpongeBob Squarepants?!
This new DVD featuring SpongeBob and friends is not your typical SpongeBob. While it says animated it is more like fuzzy claymation. Like the old Rudolph the Red Nosed reindeer movie or Frosty the Snowman. It is one episode of SpongeBob that is all about Christmas. Plankton wants to of course steal the Krabby Patty formula and he does it by ruining Christmas for everyone. He puts jerktonium in fruit cakes and gets everyone in Bikini Bottom to eat them and everyone turns into a jerk. SpongeBob saves the day by having a big heart and caring.
Overall, I let my boys (4 and 5) watch this DVD. They laughed and the lesson they learned is to be nice to everyone and get in the holiday spirit. They thought the strange animation was fun too and it was a nice change of scenery. I will say the one weird thing of the DVD though was there was a preview for the new Katie Perry movie in the previews and it doesn't seem like it is the most appropriate for young SpongeBob fans. This is a short DVD too (just 22 minutes) so its quick to watch and then watch again.

Fantastic breath of fresh air for spongebob fans !!Nov 06, 2012
WOW!! I was so impressed by the show and just how good the characters made the leap to real life. This was such a needed jolt to
the spongebob franchise. The characters are so charming to see in Claymation style.

Great movie!Dec 03, 2012
My boys looooooooove this movie!! They watch it almost every day during Christmas and still laugh every time. It's really funny and entertaining and I enjoy watching it myself. It's very well made and has a cute story line. It does say the word "jerk" ALOOOOOT so if you don't want your kids to hear/learn that work, you may not want to get it. Overall, it's a really great movie to add to your Christmas collection.

Clever, Gorgeous and a Little CreepyJan 31, 2013

"Media Medusa, Animated TV Guide"
Though I disagree with a few of the animator's choices, this Christmas special is a treat. The DVD includes fun extras, like downloadable versions of "Santa Has His Eye on You" and "Don't Be a Jerk (It's Christmas.)" The behind-the-scenes featurette gives you a peek into how the characters and sets were created. "I associate Christmas with stop-motion," said Chris Finnegan, Animation Supervisor, "It's almost like toys come to life."
The cartoon's locales are re-created to look like the best toy playsets you've ever seen. From SpongeBob's pineapple to the Krusty Krab, the textures and details are so inviting you want to break out your action figures and grab a set from the TV.
What bothered me most about this episode was the use of foam to create the characters, rather than a smooth plastic or some other modeling substance. I expected SpongeBob and Patrick to look rough and, well, spongy, but I expected Plankton and Mr. Krabs to be smooth, more like the characters in the Rankin/Bass Christmas cartoons I mentioned earlier. Plankton's foam texture bothered me, though his eyebrow was perfect.
